In a small house on the carner, Rhonda, a young mother of three, was fixing lunch for her children. Their favourite sandwich was peanut butter and jam. She took the bread and peanut butter out of the cabinet and removed the blackberry jam from the refrigerator. The lid on the jar of peanut butter seemed to be stuck tight. She tried and tried to open it, but the lid wouldn't budge.
Suddenly, Rhonda burst into tears. She had reached her limit. The baby had cried all night with colic, so she had gotten little rest; the two-year-old was hs usual "terrible twos" self, the rain meant the kids couldn't play outside, and now the dumb lid to the peanut butter jar wouldn't come off.
About that time, her five-year-old daughter came into the kitchen. Kylie had been playing with dolls in her bedroom when she heard her mother crying. The little girl hugged her mother around her waist and said," don't cry, Mommy. God will bring the sunshine back tomorrow."
Kylie's words put everything back into perspective for Rhonda. She knew that she had overreacted because she was so tired.Kylie was right. Tomorrow was another day.
Most of us can probably put ourselves in the young mother's place. We've all felt we were at the end of our rope at some time or other. Sometimes the smallest incident causes us to spill over, making us believe we cant cope anymore. Whatever the situation, always remember that God-in the words of a small child- will bring the sunshine back tomorrow.
